In the light of Axtone turning 10 soon, I thought it would be a good idea to make a special thread for looking back on a decade of memories, stories, axfacts, live footage and of course music!

The idea is to simply start with the very first axtone release that kicked it all of today, do AXT002 a few days later, untill we end with the big special something the label has in store for their anniversary, around the end of may.

Don't hesitate to tell what kind of memories, stories, little side facts or whatever you have about a particular release! For instance, did you guys know Submariner originally had a vocal mix? Ingrosso was supposed to remix Watch The Sunrise? The astronaut in Sing2Me is Jens his wife? It's things like this that add that little extra to the already memory-filled discography of the label we all love and cherish

So yeah, let's begin with where it all started!

AXT001 Together

Already posted this in the other 10 years thead, but I figured we could use that for event/axtone art/releases kind of info better :). So once more, the very first step of Axtone Records:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wymvOseHvuM

The original, the very first Axtone release to ever hit the floors. Michael Feiner's vocals must be one of the most iconic words in the game. Who hasn't made a mash with the acapella at least once in their lives by now? They are truly magnificent. I don't think I have to explain what makes the instrumental so good either. The small guitar samples are a clear hint to Axwell's past before he decided to launch the label, while the keyboard goes waaay beyond that period, and injects a massive classic house sound to the mix. But the most prolific part of this track must be that punchy electro sound that was blooming at the time. It still defines what most of us grew up with and what we mean when talking about "groove". Something that seems to be slowly making a comeback in the currency scene of today.

It's funny that when you think of it, Seb has had a huge influence on the early days of axtone. Not only does he appear on the labels backbone with Together, but apparently he was also responsible for Axwell's remoded of I Found U! It's too bad his remix for Watch The Sunrise was never finished, I would have loved to hear it! I myself often take his presence of the very first release for granted kind of, but his sound is clearly present. They seem to have this great synergy between each other and it's good to see them as a duo again with this new project :).

Ah yes, the remode! Looking back now, it kind of gave us a look into the future at the time. The style used in this remix were to be found in most of Axtone's followup releases years later. I would say even in today's sound you can here a faint pulse of what this remode was all about. A record far ahead of his time :). I was pretty late with this myself actually. I was so in love with the original that I totally ignored all other versions. It took 4 more years for me to hear it when Axtone volume one was released in 2010. Axwell made a mash with this and the original, and I remember totally freaking out when that remode kicked in around halfway of the mash as I haven't read the title yet. Out of nowhere these HUGE sounds arrived and when I discovered it was actually a remode by Axwell himself, I felt like such an idiot. Well better late than never :). Timeless rework.

Tocadisco might be somewhat less on the forefront today, but back in 2005/2006 he was one of THE names in the scene that had mastered that electro sound perfectly. He was dropping classic after classic with tracks like 'You're No Good For Me', 'Freaks' with Moguai, his remix for The Egg and of course that CLASSIC among classics 'In My Arms' with Moby. Seriously CHECK IT OUT if you haven't, its one of my alltime favorites. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PK2hXxMuq0g

That said, this remix can easily be counted amongst those productions as well. He delivered a fantastic remix that got a little snowed under due to the already fantastic original and remode. Where those versions focused on the melody, Tocadisco decided to give the already punchy bassline some extra juice, resulting in a absolute dancefloor monster! He was the right man for the job 100%. He ended up doing a whole lot more absolute milestone productions. As I said before, tocadisco is less out there as he was back in the day, but if you check his latest work, that punchy electro vibe is still very much there. Secretly hope that he has one more trick up his sleeve for Axtone some day, as the man is nothing short of a legend.

The Remode was one of the few tracks I instantly bought after hearing 30 sec of the intro, and it was so worth it, I've been listening to it non stop for days

Well i think Together has one of the most catchy, bootleg-ish vocal ever. Glad SHM used it in all of their shows at the end.

Indeed! Funny to see that this track keeps popping up during Axwell his entire career. First as a starter solo act, then during SHM and now with the AXING project almost 10 years later.

If there is any track that deserves special attention in may, it's this one!

AXT002 - Watch The Sunrise

With all the eclipse talk, let's continue with the massive followup 'Watch The Sunrise', the first solo track from Axwell himself on the label!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIGmx2y1wH8

Out of all the stuff Axwell released on his label, watch the sunrise still lies the closest to his mambana pre axtone sound. Everything about this release simply screams house music. The guitars, the vocals, the ryhtem. Surely one of ax his sexiest singles  .

Steve his vocals are one of the best from the label's many vocalist imo. This radio mix is the perfect version for listeners in my opinion. Its basically the extended vocal mix and it throws you right in!

I would have loved to seen more collaborations between the two, but this remains the only one. I think Axwell remixed him once, when he was featured on Sinclair's 'World Hold On'. Anyways, this release really showed the power the two combined generated on the label!

No matter how brutally awesome Steve Edwards was on the Vocal Dub/Extended Vocal of Watch The Sunrise, don't hesitate to check out the instrumental as well! It really makes you appreciate the many different sounds and layers Ax put in the record. Great release!

This was swedish house mafia at their peak.

And this one which is without a doubt one of Axwell's best sets.
