AXT006 Been A Long Time
2008
Sooo, here we are! This release was actually one of the reasons I started this thread. Because up untill only a month ago, I did not know that there was an original of Been A Long Time! The remixes just overshadowed it so insanely for me, but yeah, with these post I'm trying to make sure every version get's some spotlight!
So directly after Let It Go, down under strikes again with TV Rock's Been A Long Time, featuring Rudy once more on the vocals. The package included a quite unknown bizarre original, and also various remixes many of us consider to be vintage. Jens tried a new style for artworks, that he continued with for another two releases.

This is the rather unknown original I was talking about, and it sounds like a completely different tracks compared with the remixes from Ax and luke. There is something delightfully chill about it. If you listen carefully, you can hear some subtle additional Rudy in the outro

So once again, the boss himself steps up to the plate for another hit and it's a homerun babyyy. It's one of Axwell's more softer productions if you ask me, made for those early morning EXIT sets. Whenever and where-ever, this remix is a true delight to listen to.

So this LEGENDARY remix by my childhood hero, Laidback Luke, is my favorite remix on the label ever. In fact, after 'Feel The Vibe', his remix is my favorite track that has even been release (so far) on Axtone Records. Everything about it is just so unbelievably massive. The bassline, the melody, the way he brought life to the vocals...it's a monument to Luke his, in my eyes, golden era as an artist. I still get goosebumps listening to it, and I've heard that goosebumps so happen to never lie!

So to finish the EP, australian colleague Mind Electic joins the package to give that electro-house twist to the original. It's the only remix that uses those bizarre outro vocals from Rudy that are in the original

Bonus BeenALongTime Axfact:
This is the first release where the "first version" madness started on Axtone. If you've been on this forum for a while, you might know that most the label's releases go through radical changes from the first time it's being played out until the moment they are available for us to buy. I could name up various examples, but it's basically every axtone release now, as recording has become so easy these days and 'first versions' are inmediately available for us to listen.
Well, Been A Long Time is the very first release to drive us mad, as this alternative incredible remix will probably never see the light of day. If you haven't heard it before, take a seat.

The break was played somewhere in high quality and was later mashed with the released remode for listening comfort. Not sure how and where the higher quality rip came from, maybe someone can elaborate? Anyways, enjoy:

Awesome write-up, Vinelli. This song really hit home to me. I remember way back in the day going to an outdoor beach party, the Luke remix powering as the sun was up - You're right when you say the vocals are brought to life here, cuz I would belt those lines out (no wonder Rudy has more vocal appearances on the label than anyone else with 5) - Then when the night came, and the distinct melody of the Ax remix plays, you just know that this track is gold. Ahhh memories....
Glad you have this thread really up and running, much love to the AxFacts!

Axwell said he won't release it because he was not happy about the reaction of the crowd. So he completely changed it ! He said it in the thread about the release !
To me, Laidback Luke remix is just above Axwell Remode, but they're so different, you can't compare them ! I discovered it in the Axtone Vol. 1 compilation, when everything was new to me, and boy what a discovery it was for me ! He was familiar because he also remixed When Love Takes Over by Guetta, so I immediately listened to his remix and I was convinced I had one of the best artists here !

Lovely tune...if u ask me, nothing beats Axs Remode, not even close, as Vinelli said perfectly, it's made for those early morning EXIT type of sets but also fits great where ever or when ever u listen to it...one of the bosses best Remodes...

Laidback Luke's remix was out before the track was released under Axtone, so for me it was the best so far. Until I got to hear the one from Axwell first played at Rio.
For me, the fact that this first remix got unreleased is the beginning of the "end". No doubt it's good to make a track "perfect" and it would be too much fan-service to release something just because a forum got hyped. The problem is that Axwell is gonna make the same thing for Nothing But Love.
But seriously, this unreleased mix is AMAZING ; I will never understand why it couldn't be released in parallel of the remode. And it would have make more sense as the remode includes parts of the unreleased one.
The first mistake on Axtone for me.
Fortunately, AXT007 is not so far.

Maybe he didn't release that version of the remix because he was saving that type of chord for Think About It
They're kinda similar in their uplifting ways.
