I think it's more a case of Axtone writing their descriptions for people who need good records to play out, and not so much for axtone-nerds like us

I believe back in the day, Axtone added some more background info to their releases (and on the forums), yes, but for cool info these days, they have their youtube videos now!

AXT008 Rotterdam City Of Love
2008

I was looking forward to this stop in our axtone tour quite a lot, to be honest! Home field advantage!!!

So, the story behind this track is that Axwell was playing in Madrid, and the resident happened to have this on him. He liked it so much, that he asked the resident (I think it was Ramos) if it was released somewhere. Well, what do ya know! It wasn't! So it was quickly signed to Axtone as Submariner part II:

A massive progressive instrumental club record.

So after the signing, Axwell asked this certain duo to do a remix for the label. It would be the first of many for the belgiums. The went through a massive metamorphose since this debut for the label, but back then they made quite the fair share of awesome tunes, with the absolute highlight being that remix for LTWB a year later (we will get to that!).

I believe this was featured on the Axtone Volume 1 comp as well, and what I like about this in contrary with the original is that it changes the pace but not the tempo. The mash with the Axwell edit on the compilation showcases that nicely.

Ah, the Axwell Re-edit. This is, unsurprisingly, the EP winner for me. Axwell said himself that after signing this record, he didn't want to change too much but just polish it a little. And that's exactly what he did. There are a lot of added sounds, details, ideas and although it's not changed radically, I think it's 10 times more intense than the already banging original. The combination of that laidback bassline and the swift stabs/melody underneath just makes it an insane record to hear. I just love that the shortly after the first drop, there is another just catching you completely off guard. I have never seen this feature in another record. LOVE IT!

With good reason, one of my favorite Axwell remixes on the label!

Well, I think this was the first (and only?) spanish influenced release on Axtone, and I thought Abel Ramos was asked to pick a third remixes to complete the package. Well Raul Cremora was the man of the hour, and like all the other artist involved, Raul couldn't resist to keep that fantastic lead. He had some different plans for the bassline though, and made it into a very delightfully quirky affair.

This is obviously a very special record to me, as I consider Rotterdam to be my most cherished place in the world. Half of the time I spent here on earth is in this city. School, friends, the girlfriend, studies, work ect ect ect

But most importantly, my love for dance music started here, so no surprise my AFP episode will be a tribute to the place!

No offense againt you, but for this one I had been totally insensible to the Axwell touch or the original.
Too repetitive for me maybe. I'll wait for AXT009.

No no, each to their own! Took me a while to get it too, since I was used to hearing those big melodic vocal anthems at the time. But reflecting on it now, I love it to bits

Same here...that mashup with Everything But The Girl - Missing...that's why for me Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike Remix is the best of the bunch...but an incredible release all together... :)
