AXT018 One Look
2011

So it's time for the one look that was all it took, featuring a groovy original, but ofcourse also the HUGE Axwell, Dimitri Vegas&Like Mike remix!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=736P9C1zyvQ

So 'One Look' was originally known as 'Something Bout You', and like you've seen a few releases earlier, is on the Axtone compilation under that very name. No idea why the name got changed, but I guess it shouldn't matter much :). This David Tort's only appearance on the label, but it was immediately a very big one. He and Gosha were frequent partners, and after releasing a handfull of other stuff, Axtone finally picked one up as well.

The original is as progressive as it can ever be. Together with Blow Up, this release signaled a new era for Axtone. An era with slightly less housier roots, but more streamlined progressive releases.

Well, where the original was still created from a slightly gentle point of view that's so iconic to the house genre, this remix made sure to fully transform it into the city devouring monster that is truly is. Sure, there will arrive slightly harder tracks on axtone in the future. But in my opinion, nothing has ever really surpassed the astronomical hugeness of this particular track. The build up is just so enormous. Although naturally we have to give Axwell the kudos as always, but it can't be denied that however we might feel about them now, back then Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike were responsible for a trident of fantastic tracks.

Give credit where credit is due!

So we close off this look back with the final mix, that was a little snowed under by two already awesome remixes. I was listening to this, as I too haven't paid much attention to it back in the day and I realized why Axtone tends to commission less and less remixes for their signed originals these days. Usually, two versions is already more than enough, especially when Axwell is involved in one of them. Maybe there is someone here who can prove me wrong, but I bet that everyone prefers the remixes above. Diversity is good! Don't get me wrong! But, just sometimes the full potential is already reached within a particular style. That's why it's so awesome to see Paradigm getting such a diverse remix package.

A little bit from everything is the key these times!

Great release for Axtone...i don't think that this particular release is the point where Axtone went for much more big room style...i think Blow Up was that point...anyhow, Axwell vs. DV&LM Remix is big room, progressive house music at it's finest...it just destroys everything...and yes, credit to DV&LM for this track...u can hear their influence...they were still kind of cool at the time...i really liked their track X Generation on Size in that period...

Apart from LTWB, this must be my 2nd favorite Axtone release ever! This is my kind of 'House Music' which made me fall in love with it! The artwork is one of the best ever imo 8-) !

I don't feel anything special about One Look. First time that an Axwell work doesn't goosebump me.
However, the vocalist Gosha did other works in the past, including this one I'm totally in love with (under the name Vangosh, but it's the same guy, as he said it himself in this very forum in the One Look topic) :
